Horned Flatface

So I got an email from an actual fish biologist in New Caledonia (yeah I had to look that up) that had some kind remarks and helpful suggestions about my fish drawings. As I don't use a lot of reference when I draw my fish it seems my fish anatomy's a little whacky. From my new fish biologist buddy: "The only fins that come in pairs are the pectoral and the ventral." I was informed that most (all) fish don't have a set of anal fins, they usually have just one. The only fish that have a pair of anal fins are goldfish and aren't found in the wild. As I have goldfish that I see everyday therein lies the problem. So just for you Dominique, here's a one anal-finned fish. Thanks for the great advice!

Colored up some old linework.

Ernest the Ridge-Backed Snail Eye

I did about 10 fish drawings while at the Fish Show. My brother Nathan and my good buddy Orion were throwing out names for them while we were sitting there but I don't recall which ones went to which.

The Fish Show part 4/Friend Appreciation Post

Well The Fish Show went off pretty cool Friday night. I had a lot of friends show up; friends from Houston, Fort Worth, and lots from here locally (Austin). I took my camera and took exactly zero pictures (that is typical of me, I'm not a picture-taker kind of guy). Hopefully some of my peeps took some and will send me a few so I can post them.
I did some drawing, sold some fish, jibber-jabbered and generally had a great time. I wanted to send out major kudos to those of you who showed up. I really, really appreciate it. And you guys from out of town that travelled to come hang out, super-duper, major kudos to you. Thanks again, I love you guys.

Randomness.

Wizard Rock

Here's another rock I finally finished up (he's been sitting next to my desk unfinished for about a year ). I've been doing these guys for about 10 years now. I have played with the idea of doing enough to actually sell but usually I'll get 10 or so done then I have a party and wind up giving them all away to friends (see: get me drunk and I'll give you art).

Prepare for self-pimpage.

My first solo show "The Fish Show" opened last Friday and runs through the end of the month. My reception shindig will be next Friday (the 15th) to coincide with my birthday (groovy). All are invited. I hope to see you out.

Antennae Long-Whisker

The Fish Show (part 2)

Well I got it hung on Friday with some help from my buddy Jason Chalker. Thanks Chalker!
I think a reception/opening is in the works. Stay tuned...

Faerie Rock

I've been painting rocks for awhile now and I had an idea for this one so I finished her up a few days ago.
