The Fish Show (part 1)
Just a heads up; my "Fish Show" will be up this Friday and run through June at Amy's Ice Cream on 6th Street here in Austin. More pics, info, and a reception to be forthcoming.

Sketch to Ink
Here's an example of my pencil roughs to black & white. If I were pencilling for someone else to ink my pencils would be much tighter. Keeping the pencils loose when I ink speeds the process up because I can fill a lot of the details in with ink. This is another guy from the WEGS game stuff coming out this summer. (You don't want to know what he's carrying.)
Tentacle Head Bran
A Bran I did yesterday for fun. I ran across the website and thought I'd give it a go. It was fun, I'll probably try my hand at a few others.

Elf Chick
An interior spot illustration for WEGS. One of the few times I actually used photo reference. I'm not going to tell you what photo I used or where it came from but I will give you a hint... I have a subscription to a certain magazine and the reference photo I used is from my favorite issue (guitar-pick bikinis kick ass) they put out every year except for the one where Vince is on the cover. That was a pretty good hint.

Name the Fish Wednesday Part II
Well it worked pretty well last week so I thought I'd try it again. It may become a weekly thing (hopefully) depending on participation. Congrats to Chalker for winning last week's. Feel free to come up with a cool name and you could win a print of "your" fish. Rock on.
The Red Dragon Inn Box Cover
I received a copy of the final print version of the Red Dragon Inn card game's box cover with all the type elements and I'm stoked, my first box cover! I think it looks great! Suh-weet. Check out Slugfest Games' new website. The site has a new design and you can preview some of the new stuff they've got coming out, including The Red Dragon Inn.

And he's done (almost).
My favorite 50 foot monster.
"...a monster of vaguely anthropoid outline, but with an octopus-like head whose face was a mass of feelers, a scaly, rubbery-looking body, prodigious claws on hind and fore feet, and long, narrow wings behind." - The Call of Cthulhu

"Tongue O' Dung" rough
I did this rough while waiting for my computer to reboot after multiple reboots and finally a complete re-install of my wacom tablet. Like I needed that crap today. I have to remember: "Violence and technology... NOT good bedfellows." And if you know where that line came from you are a badass. The rough's for a game coming out this summer and Larry of WEGS graciously let me post it.
Bill Nighy Fish
If you don't know who Bill Nighy is this won't make much sense, but if you do it makes total sense. Good job Mr. Chalker for coming up with such an awesomely clever name.

Fish sculpture paint job.
I wasn't having the greatest day yesterday so I took a break from staring at the computer screen and pulled out this guy and decided to work on his paint job. I cranked up some butt rock and went to work.
Here are his base colors, about 5 to 6 drybrushing coats of various blues and purples.I painted his belly white, did a base coat of rust red in his mouth and screwed in eyelets on the backside to hang him from.
He needs a few highlight coats, an antiquing to bring out the scales and a base coat of black for his eyes and teeth. Once that all dries, paint the teeth and eyes and a spray of varnish and he's complete and ready to hang.

Hand Turkey
My weekly post to the Austin Sketch Squad blog. It was my turn to pick the topic so I picked "Hand Turkeys". 15 minutes from start to finish and was surprising fun and liberating. Kindergarten's on to something...
